EMMA KERKMAN
Author-Adventurer
About
Emma Kerkman, writing under the moniker E. M. Kerkman, is a 20-year-old author from Wisconsin. She writes genre fiction and is best known for her sci-fi and surrealist short fiction. Her awards include the 2024 Dell Award, a 2021 nomination for the American Voices Award, a 2021 YoungArts Merit Award in Short Fiction, a 2019 Regional Best-in-Grade Award from the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, and a number of Scholastic national medals. She is currently pursuing undergraduate degrees in Creative Writing and History at Hamilton College in Clinton, NY.

When she isn't writing or college-ing, Emma can be found working outdoors as a kayak guide, high ropes course operator, high-school mountain bike coach, or snowboard instructor. Some of her other hobbies include film photography, volunteering within her local community, hiking and backpacking, songwriting, and taking short road trips around New England.

After graduating, Emma intends to take a few years off to travel and work in the adventuresports industry around the US, hopefully finding time to work on her (many, many) writing projects in between her adventures.
